Former North Korean ambassador
to Italy Jo Song Gil "had not political motive" to defect and
his daughter "hated her parents because they left her at home
alone" and wanted to "return to her grandparents in Pyongyang"
where she is now "well" albeit being "treated", Jo's successor
at the embassy Kim Chon said in a letter to the presdient of the
Italy-North Korea interparliamentary union, Osvaldo Napoli,
refuting South Korea's claim that the girl was abducted.
Kim accused Seoul of cooking up the claim to "hinder our
relations with Italy".
