Chinese telecoms giant Huawei has not
been invited to Telecom Italia's new 5G tender but the Italian
telecoms group said it was a purely business decision.
The tender is to supply 5G systems in Italy and Brazil.
Among the suppliers invited are Cisco, Ericsson, Nokia, Mavenir
and Affirmed Networks, sources said.
Telecom sources said it was an "industrial choice" and not a
"political" one linked to US warnings about Huawei.
Washington is insisting China may make undue inroads on the back
of Huawei's intervention in 5G.
The US is continuing to exert pressure on its European allies
not to let the Chinese colossus into the new networks.
Huawei has systematically denied the American charges.
