Pope Francis on Friday named
former European Central Bank President Mario Draghi a member of
the Pontifical Academy for Social Sciences.
As well as Draghi, Francis also tapped Pedro Morandé Court, an
emeritus professor of Sociology
at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, and Kokunre
Adetokunbo Agbontaen Eghafona, professor of sociology and
anthropology at the 'University of Benin in Nigeria.
Draghi has been tipped by some for a political career in Italy.
Quizzed about his post-ECB plans, he said "ask my wife".
Draghi was replaced at the helm of the central bank by former
IMF managing director Christine Lagarde last year after years of
"doing what it takes" to protect the euro.
