(ANSA) - Rome, February 21 - Roman golf player Renato
Paratore is dreaming of competing in the Ryder Cup 2022 beside
Francesco Molinari and against his idol Tiger Woods.
Speaking from the "Marco Simone Golf & Country Club" in
Guidonia Montecelio near Rome, Paratore spoke about his present
and future goals.
"This year I absolutely want to qualify for a Major", he
said.
In an interview at the club owned by the Biagiotti family for
the first event of 2019, the "Road to Rome", Paratore did not
hide his ambition.
"I started the season on the right foot and now I want to
improve", he said.
"Playing the Ryder with Chicco (Francesco Molinari) and
against Woods would be wonderful".
"Dreaming doesn't cost anything".
The 22-year-old Roman player could be at a turning point in
his career this year.
The director general of the project Ryder Cup 2022, Gian
Paolo Montali, believes in him.
"I am happy that Montali has invested in me", said Paratore.
"It is important to have his confidence and that of the whole
Federation - I thank him".
In 2018 he came very close to winning the Porsche European
Open in Hamburg before finishing in second place.
"I hope to make up for it, possibly at the Open Italia",
scheduled on October 10-13 at the Olgiata Golf Club in Rome, he
said.
"Winning in front of 'my' public would be special", he
concluded.
