(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 24 NOV - The German gross domestic product
rose by 8.5% in the third quarter of 2020 compared with the
second quarter of the year, the German Federal Statistical
Office Destatis said today. The data suggest that "the German
economy could offset a large part of the massive decline in the
gross domestic product recorded in the second quarter of 2020
due to the coronavirus pandemic," Destatis noted, adding that,
however, the GDP was still 4.0% lower in the third quarter of
2020 than in the fourth quarter of 2019. The increase of the GDP
in Germany in the third quarter of 2020 was slightly stronger
than reported in the first release of 30 October 2020 (+8.2%),
Destatis said. (ANSA).
