VW does not renounce site in Turkey, which is on standby

(ANSA) - BERLIN, OCTOBER 23 - "We are not making alternative
plans" to the Volkswagen production plant in Turkey: Andreas
Tostmann said in a conference call with journalists, according
to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. The project for a plant
in Turkey is currently on "stand-by", waiting to understand how
the situation in Syria will evolve in the coming days, Tostmann
added. There is no pressure to make a decision quickly, the Vw
executive continued, since the construction of the site is
scheduled for the end of 2020. Ten days ago German car giant
announced that it had postponed the decision to set up a
production center in Smyrna, with a production forecast of
300,000 vehicles per year and the employment of 4,000 people.
