Kosovo: Vucic, dialogue postponed until 16 July

Unacceptable requests and ultimatums from Pristina

10 July, 18:37
(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 10 LUG - The formal resumption of the dialogue on Kosovo between Belgrade and Pristina, scheduled for July, 12 in Brussels, has been postponed to July, 16. A video conference will take place on Sunday. That is what Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said at the end of the video summit on the Kosovo issue organized by Emmanuel Macron and Angela Merkel.

Today's meeting, he said, and Serbian media reported, was hard as Belgrade has a stance that is different from all other participating parties.

Moreover, he added, Pristina's demands are "maximalist", and unacceptable for Serbia. Belgrade, Vucic said, does not accept orders and ultimatums. According to Serbia's president, among the requests from Pristina are mutual recognition, respect for the territorial integrity of Kosovo, respect for the Kosovar constitution, admission of Kosovo to the UN, recognition of the independence of Kosovo by five EU countries that have not yet recognized it, war compensation. If these are the demands, no negotiation makes sense, said Vucic. "We are ready to talk about anything that can improve relations between the two peoples, the free movement of people, capital, and goods, but we do not accept ultimatums from anyone. That is not possible." (ANSA)
