Revenue from traffic fines grew by
37.4% to 547 million in 2022 over the previous year according to
data released by Italian consumer group Codacons on Saturday.
At 151.5 million euros, Milan remained the city generating the
most income from driving offences, followed by Rome (133 million
euros), Florence (46 million euros), Bologna (43 million euros)
and Turin (40 million euros).
Codacons collects data annually from Italy's 20 main cities.
The Tuscan regional capital came in top for revenue generated
from speed cameras, at 23.2 million euros, followed by Milan at
12.9 million and Genova at 10.7 million.
In Naples income from speed cameras totalled just 18,700 euros,
said Codacons.
