- ROME, NOV 29 - Italian President Sergio Mattarella on
Monday said no country or culture can deal with current global
challenges on their own.
Speaking at the foreign ministry during the event 'Stati
generali della lingua italiana' to promote the Italian language,
the president said "the world in which we act is characterized
by the complexity of the reality surrounding us".
"We are dealing with challenges that no country, no culture
can imagine to confront alone.
"Crises like the ones induced by climate change, the right
aspirations to an authentically fair and sustainable
development, are all intersected with new global frictions and
outbreaks of instability across the geographical lines between
our continents", said the president.
Mattarella urged Italians to "look at the past to make the
most in the present of lessons" we have learned "even those
experienced through sacrifice and pain, like the experience of
the pandemic crisis".
