(ANSA) - UDINE, 22 MAR - PRISTINA, MARCH 22 - In Pristina, the first session of the new parliament opened this morning.

After the oath, the new deputies, elected with the early vote of February 14, appointed Glauk Konjufca of the 'Self-determination' movement as president of the Assembly.

Konjufca, who gained 69 votes in favor and 33 against (114 MPS were attending the parliament out of 120), also assumes the interim president of the republic, replacing Hashim Thaci, arrested in November for war crimes and detained in 'Aja.

The Assembly also elected three vice-presidents.

The new president of the parliament is likely to give today the task of forming the new government to Albin Kurti, the leader of 'Self-determination' (Vetevendosje, VV, nationalist left), the political party that has won the general election with the 50.2% of the vote and 58 of the 120 seats. In second place came the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), with 17% and 19 seats, followed by the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) with 12.73% of the votes and 15 seats. The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (Aak) gained 7.12%, eight seats.

The other parties have not surpassed the 5% threshold. The resumption of dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade, which has continued for ten years with the EU's mediation, depends on the establishment of the parliament and the formation of the new government. (ANSA).
