Bulgaria:first session of the new parliament after elections
Seven 'new' parties. Appointment of new government expected
29 November, 16:40Immediately after the final results of the vote, negotiations for the government began between the CC, the Socialists (Bsp, 26 seats), the populist party ITN led by TV showman Slavi Trifonov (25 seats), and the right-wing party 'Democratic Bulgaria' (16 seats).
All these four parties, defined as "parties of change", have declared their intention to exclude from any possible majority the conservative Gerb party led by former Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, who remained in government for almost ten years (59 seats), and the Turkish minority party DPS (34 seats), held responsible for the stalemate and rampant corruption in the country.
