QUESTION: The Dolomites in the province of Belluno will be featured in Rome at the World Tourism Fair for UNESCO Cities and Sites.
What will you be sharing?
GIULIANO VANTAGGI: We will be telling the story of the incredible closeness that we as the Dolomites in the province of Belluno have with Venice.
We are working on a lot of projects.
In this case we are talking about the Piave, the river that joins the Dolomites and Venice, but we are working to make it so that Venice boosts the neighbouring territories.
That is, so that the tourism that comes to Venice is also able to come to the surrounding areas. And therefore we can manage to grow through the Piave, which is the river of culture, the river of great beauty, through the Prosecco area through to the Veneto Dolomites, which make up 46.1% of the World Heritage Site.
Tourists to our area are increasingly international. This is an asset because we can help the tourist to understand that we are very close to Veneto airports and above all the Venice Airport.
It's a plus, because international visitors know our mountains well, they want our food and wine and they want to see our culture and tradition.
We are pushing hard for international tourists to come to us.
Our area will also see two very large events in the coming years: the 2021 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Cortina, and the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics.
The entire territory is preparing, both from the point of view of the Dolomites and the ski slopes as well as from the point of view of accommodating all the nations that will come to experience the slopes and all the Olympic sports that Cortina will have.
