Covid: Austria, distance-learning for untested students

Government buys 20m swab tests for schools

(ANSA) - BOLZANO, 02 FEB - Austria lifts the lockdown but tightens some anti-Covid measures. As for the reopening of schools, the Kurz government provides permanent tests, which for teachers will be weekly, if not twice a week. For this reason, the government purchased 20 million rapid swab tests. For untested children, distance-learning takes place. The provision is considered admissible by constitutionalists, explained the education minister Heinz Fassmann. From now on, the obligation to show a negative swab to enter Austria also applies to cross-border commuters and people who live in neighboring countries but work in Austria. The test is valid for one week.

However, for commuters, the ten-day quarantine that applies to all other travelers is not mandatory, but a reduction to 5 days is no longer possible, even with a negative test. Everyone has to register online. The fine for those who do not wear the mask has increased to 90 euros. (ANSA).
