Chamber of Comm.: Cosenza, 80,000 euro to women's businesses

Tender for development and support, 23 eligible companies

(ANSA) - COSENZA, MAR.31 - Cosenza Chamber of Commerce has successfully closed the tender for the development and support of women's businesses in the province of Cosenza, delivering around 80,000 euro for contributions to the 23 eligible companies.

Companies that receive funding, less than a month after the deadline to submit applications, are active in different sectors (trade, tailoring, tourism, advertising, agriculture) 60% are individual enterprises. The public fundings, on average 3,400 euro but up to 5,000 Euros, covering up to 60% of the costs incurred by entrepreneurs for investments and innovations in their productive activities.

The president of the Female Entrepreneurship Committee of the Chamber of Commerce Maria Cocciolo is particularly satisfied with the result. ''The tender we have just closed - says Cocciolo - was launched at the invitation of the Committee established last year with the aim of promoting and supporting women's enterprises, enhance the competitiveness of women entrepreneurs and strengthen the role of women in the local economy. The 'Report on women entrepreneurship in the province of Cosenza 'at the end of 2016, and the first ''Gender balance'' recently published by the Chamber of commerce have the same goals. The Chamber pays a lot of attention to gender policies not only outward but also with reference to its internal organization.

''Alongside the tender just closed, other initiatives are still in progress: the ''Call for tenders to support the implementation of school-work alternating paths'' (deadline 30 April 2017), intended to provide businesses with public funding to carry out projects and initiatives in collaboration with schools, the ''Call for tenders to provide technical institutes and high schools with public funding for school-work projects'' (deadline May 2, 2017), and the second edition of ''Historic Enterprise Award of the Province of Cosenza'', intended to underline the value of all entrepreneurs, men and women, who continue to give their support to local economic development (deadline May 31).
