A hearse led a protest drive by tour
coaches along the main north-south A1 motorway in Campania on
Monday.
The cortege caused significant disruption to traffic along the
artery.
Protesters say over 1,000 tour companies in Campania are on the
verge of going bust due to the fall in business amid the
COVID-19 pandemic.
Some 4,500 coaches, vans and hire cars have seen a steep
contraction in their activities.
"Without government intervention," said
Confesercenti/Federnoleggio, "some 10,000 jobs, including direct
workers and ancillary workers, are at strong risk".
