Milan finance police on Tuesday
arrested eight people in relation to a probe by DDA anti-mafia
investigators that uncovered an alleged attempt by members of
the 'Ndrangheta to net public funding for the coronavirus
emergency.
The suspects are accused of felonies including criminal
association for tax fraud with the aggravating factor of the use
mafia methods and self-laundering.
The probe revealed that a clan member managed to obtain
COVID-19-linked grants and was also trying to get funding for
businesses in need of liquidity due to the emergency.
