Italian actress Sandra Milo will
receive this year's David di Donatello career achievement award,
Italy's Oscar, organisers said Wednesday.
Milo, 88, won a Silver Ribbon best supporting actress award from
Italian journalists for her roles in Federico Fellini's 8½ and
Juliet of the Spirits.
"Who but Sandra Milo, the fluffy and dizzy blonde, you might
say, loved by Fellini who immortalised her as an erotic dream in
8½ and Juliet of the Spirits?," said Italian Cinema Academy
President Pietra Detassis.
Milo, A Tunis-born actress whose real name was Salvatrice Elena
Greco, got her break with "women's director Antonio
Pietrangeli," Detassis noted.
Detassi recalled that despite never getting a David during her
career, Milo worked for other great directors including Roberto
Rossellini, Gabriele Salvatores, Gabriele Muccino, Pupi Avati,
Jean Renoir and Claude Sautet.
"Milo is the woman that the dreams of men have imagined," said
Detassis.
"The Italian Film Academy is honoured to award her the career
David".
