Health Minister Roberto Speranza on
Thursday defended the government's decision to adopt a cautious
line and maintain quarantine for people arriving from non-EU
countries after the Union opened its external border to 15
States on Wednesday.
"We hope that we can go further in a few weeks but caution is
needed for now," Speranza told RAI television.
"We have been through some difficult months.
"We cannot remove the restrictions. It would be wrong to take
risks that we cannot afford.
"The scientific community wholeheartedly agrees with the caution
and this enables us to get through the next few weeks".
