An Italian taxi driver was arrested
on suspicion of grievous bodily harm Thursday over a 27-year-old
passenger who 'fell' out of his vehicle and ended up in a coma
in Cremona in December.
The man, 48, was arrested after police intercepted a phone
conversation in which he said "they say he's in a coma, just as
well, he won't be able to tell his version of events", police
said.
According to police, the passenger was hurled out of the car,
which had its rear door open, after the driver sped off off
after a row over payment.
The driver claimed that he had been going slowly to an ATM so
the young man could get cash to pay the fare.
