Elyséee sources said Tuesday that
there is "an alignment of the planets in favour of
Franco-Italian collaboration" ahead of Friday's signing at the
presidential palace in Rome of the Quirinal Treaty putting
relations on an even firmer footing.
They said "we have been able to develop in excellent conditions
of collaboration" issues which two groups of wise men examined
and which formed the basis of negotiations that started earlier
this year.
The treaty, which boosts cooperation and cements ties along the
lines of a treaty France signed with Germany, will be signed by
President Sergio Mattarella and President Emmanuel Macron at
nine o'clock on Friday morning.
"It is the first time," said the Elysée sources, "and the
Italians with this gesture have wanted to show a very deep
friendship towards France, granting a place like the Quirinal
Palace for the signing".
