A strong earthquake of magnitude
4.7 was recorded at 9:43 p.m. yesterday in Bosnia and
Herzegovina. Local media report that the quake had epicenter
about 15 kilometers northwest of the central city of Zenica and
hypocenter at a depth of nine kilometers. No reports of personal
injuries have been received so far, but some rubble fell from
old buildings in the city and other small towns nearby, where
there were also power outages. The quake was felt as far away as
Serbia. Shortly before the quake in Zenica, which is part of the
Muslim-Croat Federation, another magnitude 3 earthquake was
recorded in Banja Luka, the capital of Republika Srpska, the
other entity of which Bosnia-Herzegovina is composed.
